Tomasz Kizny was born in Wroc¸aw in 1958. He is a member of the Polish Art Photographers Union. In 1982-1991, he was among the founders and members of the Dementi Independent Photographic Agency, connected with the clandestine press. In 1986, he embarked on a self-devised independent project entitled "An Image of the System", made part of the undertakings of the KARTA Centre in 1992. The photographic shows mounted within the framework of the project include: "Survivors of the Gulag" (1989); "The Dead Road" (1991), "Sentence" (ZachŤta Gallery, presented at the international exhibition "Where is Abel thy brother", 1995) and "The Kolyma Planet" (1996). He contributes to the KARTA quarterly and "Gazeta Wyborcza" Illustrated Magazine. He lives in Wroc¸aw. Tomasz Kizny urodził się w 1958 roku we Wrocławiu. Jest członkiem Związku Polskich Artystów Fotografików. W latach 1982Đ1991 współtworzył Niezależną Agencję Fotograficzną "Dementi", związaną z prasą drugiego obiegu. Od 1986 roku realizuje autorski projekt fotograficzny "Obraz Systemu", od 1992 roku włączony do prac Ośrodka KARTA. W ramach tego projektu zrealizowane zostały prezentacje fotograficzne: "Ocaleni z GUŁagu" (1989), "Martwa droga" (1991), "Wyrok" (Zachęta, międzynarodowa wystawa "Gdzie jest brat twój, Abel?", 1995), "Planeta Kołyma" (1996). Współpracuje z kwartalnikiem KARTA i Magazynem Gazety Wyborczej. Mieszka we Wrocławiu. |
