LIDIA GRYCHTOLOWNA - POLAND
Born at Rybnik in Silesia. When hardly 5 years old she gave her first public concert. Her teachers were Antoni Szafranek, Wanda Chmielowska, Zbigniew Drzewiecki and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. She graduated from the Music Academy in Katowice with the highest honours. Prize-winner at 4 international competitions: Chopin in Warsaw, Schumann in Berlin, Busoni in Bolzano and in Rio de Janeiro. She was awarded the Gold Medal of the City of Milan, a prize of Minister of Culture and other distinctions. Gave many times concerts in almost all European countries, those of South America, USA, Mexico, Cuba, Australia, Thailand, China, Japan. She was juror at the I0th, IIth and I2th International Chopin Competition in Warsaw, as well as at the competitions in Gottingen, Darmstadt, Miami. Made many records, among others for Philips. Held master classes in Germany. In 1986 assumed the post of piano professor at the Gutenberg University in Mainz.
