HAROLD C. SCHONBERG - USA
Graduate of Brooklyn College and New York University. Studied also at the Art Students League. His piano teacher was Alice Frisca. As editor and music critic was working at the "American Music Lover", "Musical Digest", "New York Sun", "Musical Courier", "The Gramophone", "New York Times". In 1971 he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in the field of criticism. Among the honorary titles conferred on him are those of: Doctor of Literature - Temple University in 1964 and Doctor of Humanist Literature - Grinnell College in 1967. Has been contributing to many American journals. Among the books written by him are "The Great Pianists", "The Great Conductors", "The Lives of Great Composers", "Horovitz: his Life and Music".
