

ARIE VARDI - ISRAEL
Studied the piano under Paul Baumgarten and composition with Pierre Boulez and Karlheinz Stockhausen. First prize winner at the Enescu International Competition in Bucharest and at the Chopin Competition in Israel. Has been giving concerts in Europe, United States, Latin America and in the Far East. In 1992 he made a concert tour in Russia. As a soloist has been appearing with major orchestras under the direction among others of Zubin Mehta, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Kurth Masur, Murray Perehia. As a soloist and conductor he plays all concertos by Bach and Mozart. Lately has been specializing in impressionist music, mainly that of Debussy and Ravel. Has been making records for the RCA. Piano professor at the Rubin Music Academy at Tel Aviv University (former rector of that school), as well as at the Hochschule fur Musik in Hanover. Conductor of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra. Juror at many international piano competitions. Artistic Adviser and chairman of the Rubinstein International Masters Competition.
