- Summer in Paris drawing and painting at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere. Transfers in autumn to Fine Art Department, Yale Collage, Yale University, New Haven; meets Richard Serra, Chuck Close, Brice Marden, Nancy Graves

- Marries painter Jan Hashey; graduates from Yale with B.A. degree in painting; accepts teaching job at The Mountain School, Vershire, Vermont; daughter Jessica born
