- Note: The folder of lithographs Lodz Without Functionalism started
a new period in the artistic development of W. Strzeminski his interest
in the pulsating, biological line reflecting "psychophysiological
rhythms", but one which is rationalized and controlled by the intellect.
It was the first signal of drawings made in the years 1936-1945. It also
illustrates the artist's social attitude, expressed, for instance, on his
work in the field of sociology and urban development, entitled Lodz sfunkcjonalizowana
(Lodz Functionalized), published after war. The individual lithographs
in the folder were printed, for the most part, on hand-made cream-coloured
paper and one on pink-blue paper (cat. 111.8). The colour of the drawing
is also varied: City-scape of Lodz I and work Unemployed I in green, City-scape
of Lodz II in sepia, and all the remaining works in black.
